Diagnostic Strips

OEL offers various types of diagnostic strips which are used to visualize defects and aberrations in the corneal epithelium by staining the areas of cellular loss.

Description

Opthalmic Fluoro is a specially prepared sterile ophthalmic strip for the diagnostic use to visualize dffects or abrasions on the corneal epithelium by stainig the area of cellular loss. Indication : For staining the anterior segment of the eye when :

  • Determining the site of an ocular injury.
  • Fitting Contact lenses
  • Making the lacrimal drainage test.

Warning

Never use flourescein while the patient is wearing soft contact lenses because the lenses may become stained.

Direction for use:

Moisten the colored tip of the strip with sterile water or ophthalmic solution . Insert the moistened end of the strip into the lower conjunctival sac, while the patient looks up. Hold the strip until adequate dye migrates to the patient eye. For optimal results, the patient should blink several times after application.

Storage: Store at room temperature

Description

Opthalmic Rose is a specially prepared sterile ophthalmic strip for diagnostic use. It stains devitalized cells and mucus a brilliant red. It also stains the mucin layer of precorneal tear film.

Directions for use

Moisten the colored tip of the strip with sterile water or ophthalmic solutions. Insert the moistened end of the strip into the lower conjunctival sac, while the patient looks up. Hold the strip until adequate dye migrates to the patient eye. For optimal results, the patient should blink several times after application.

Description

Opthalmic Green is a specially prepared sterile ophthalmic strip for diagnostic use. Opthalmic green stains degenertated cell, dead cell & mucus fibrils.

Directions for use

Moisten the colored tip of the strip with sterile water or ophthalmic solutions. Insert the moistened end of the strip into the lower conjunctival sac, while the patient looks up. Hold the strip until adequate dye migrates to the patient eye. For optimal results, the patient should blink several times after application.

Description

Opthalmic shirmer is a specially prepared sterile ophthalmic strip for diagnostic use for the deficiency of natural tear secretion.

Directions for use

Do not expose the patient eye to any manipulation prior to performing the test. Place the patient eye away from direct light, adequately resting the head. Insert the rounded end of the strip into the lower conjuctival sac; while the patient looks up, making sure that the strip is securely placed. Ask the patient to close the eye and hold the strip for 5 minutes. Remove the strip and refer to the graduated scale on the strip to record the distance of tear migration.
